Personal Review Log Cabin

In January 2023, we unexpectedly had to find a last-minute alternative after our original hotel closed unexpectedly. This led us to Lapland Hotel Äkäshotelli in Äkäslompolo. At the time, only the Log Cabins were available, which turned out to be exactly what we needed. 

We were interested to find out what to expect because the hotel's reviews were mediocre for the most part.   We were pleasantly happy when we drove a short distance to our cabin after obtaining our key at the reception. The cabin's small size plus the fact that the bed, kitchen, and dining table were all in one area made it feel warm and welcoming. Although the kitchen was small, it was ideal for cooking simple meals, and the sauna heated up quickly.
We chose to eat a good-quality breakfast at the hotel. But there was a noticeable difference between our cabin's comfortable ambiance and the hotel's spacious dining hall. While the breakfast area is packed with people, the log cabins give you the impression that you are in the middle of nowhere and that it is more peaceful, like a home. There are many options for everyone during the high-quality breakfast. A variety of fruits are available, along with diet and gluten-free options. Normal coffee is free, even though breakfast is included in the stay, ordering a latte would cost you about five euros apiece, which seems excessive.

Personal review hotel apartment

After discovering the log cabin I wanted to also see how I stay in the apartment would be to give a final rating to Lapland Hotel Äkäshotelli.

Since the apartments are located in separate blocks, you will have neighbors either above or below you. In contrast to the log cabins, this results in less privacy. Compared to the log where the bed is in the living area, the actual space is larger with a separate bedroom. The apartment has an apartment-like appearance whereas the log cabin gives you the cozy Lapland feeling. A fireplace is available in the apartment and you are able to take free firewood from storage near the cabin. The log cabin makes you feel cozy, but if you close all the windows, you won't feel like you're in Lapland. It's fantastic that the private sauna heats up quickly. Some blocks are a little closer to the lake and provide a pleasant view of the forest. You might want to include this preference in your reservation (C/D/E/F) if you can. Generally speaking, every apartment is nearer to the primary amenities, such as the restaurant, fitness center, and swimming pool compared to the log cabins. 
I didn't anticipate the kitchen to be like this. The whole point of renting an apartment is to save money by cooking some of your own food rather than eating out. You can't make more than one burger at once because the kitchen is so little and the pans are so tiny. In addition to not having a dishwasher, they did not supply the salt, pepper, or olive oil that we had in other flats. It's just not feasible to prepare a lot of meals oneself, so don't expect to do so.

Final review

Lapland Hotel Äkäshotelli is a convenient option near the lake. Although it's on the outskirts of the village, it takes ten minutes to walk to the the store.   If you are traveling without a rental car, it is quite useful that there is a bus stop in front of the hotel. With your luggage, they may provide better support. If you don't have a car, you can walk from the hotel reception to your apartment or log cabin in ten to fifteen minutes. For instance, this is very heavy on the snow when you are going with your own bags and ski equipment. A sled is provided by certain lodgings, which already makes things simpler. The breakfast is excellent in and of itself, however the extra prices for several coffees seem excessive. Families with small children who wish to use the pool would love this place to stay. The hotel is also excellent for visitors who would want the convenience of a prepared breakfast and simple dining selections. Renting a cabin in the area is the greatest option for tourists who want more privacy or comfort and elegance.
