Bucketlist: Lucky Ranch Snow Igloos

Bucketlist: Lucky Ranch Snow Igloos

Lucky Ranch Snow Igloos is tucked away in Pyha, about two hours' drive from Rovaniemi, in an unique, less visited area of Lapland. Pyha is home to a breathtakingly gorgeous national park and genuinely unique lodging options. The Lucky Ranch Snow Igloos, a must-do activity for each traveler, are at the top of the list.

Since each of the five snow igloos is constructed from scratch each year, its shapes and designs change every year. You can be sure that this will rate among the most thrilling adventures you have ever had. This should be on your bucket list!

Guests gather at the basecamp at the start of the evening. Either bring your own meal or order it here (check in advance for available alternatives). Additionally, the basecamp provides the option to immediately reserve enjoyable activities. We decided to try out forest skis, which are wider than cross-country skis and let us make our own way across the wild landscape, to explore the frozen surroundings. It was a very wonderful event, made even more magical by the snowfall. We later relaxed in the sauna and even took a swim in the ice bath to finish off the evening.

Sharing the basecamp with other guests creates a warm, communal atmosphere where conversations flow naturally, fostering a genuine sense of camaraderie. The excitement is infectious, even though the experience may initially appear a little intimidating. The team explains everything thoroughly, and you’re provided with a sleeping bag rated for at least -30°C, an extra sheet, and a pillow to ensure your comfort.

The igloos themselves are very charming, with cozy mattresses covered in reindeer hides and complemented by lovely ambient lighting that heightens the magical atmosphere. You can have a hot cup of tea before going to your igloo. Before tucking into your sleeping bag for the night, it is advised to wear a thermal set, a thick sweater, warm socks, and something comfortable for your head and neck.

With an incredible on-site personnel that enables a range of activities and gives knowledge into the surrounds, this experience is just incredible. A delicious breakfast is served in the morning, and you can even take a nice shower. There are comfortable sleeper sofas available at the basecamp for anybody who might be hesitant to spend the night in an igloo.

Additionally, Lucky Ranch Snow Igloos provides a variety of activities that enhance the experience. This is an adventure that should not be missed because of its beautiful surroundings around Pyha Lake and its cozy, family-friendly atmosphere.
