Glass Igloo at Tundrea Holiday Resort
Only ten minutes from the Norwegian border, in the remote Arctic village of Kilpisjärvi, sits the Tundrea Holiday Resort. Rough mountains, especially the famous Saana Fell (1,029 meters), encircle the small village. Most visitors miss out on this hidden gem if they don't make the trip up north. Kilpisjärvi is about a 3.5-hour drive from the Kittilä region; read the Travel Guide to learn more about it and what to do there.
The Glass Iglo
Tundrea Holiday Resort is one of the town's lodging options. Although they provide a variety of lodging options, their Glass Igloos are what really make them stand out. At the moment, there are three glass igloos, each with two floors. There is a comfortable living space on the first level that is ideal for spending time with nature and connecting with oneself. The bed beneath the glass roof and a sauna-equipped bathroom are located on the second floor. You may still enjoy a breathtaking view of the surrounding white countryside from the sauna. In addition, the igloo has a fully functional kitchen with an oven so you can cook while taking in the scenery outside. To give you the impression of luxury, a music and lighting system has been installed in the iglo.
You are given a sleeping mask, and the bed is extremely comfy. There are some curtains on the glass windows, but not all of them. You can enjoy the beauty of nature while taking a well-earned break by wearing a sleep mask if necessary. To save dragging your bags through the snow, there is a designated parking space close to the iglo.
Other accommodations
Tundrea Holiday Resort offers a variety of lodging options. Two to four individuals can stay in the apartments with a private kitchen and sauna. There are chalets available if you are visiting with a larger party. Here, you may relax by your own fireplace and take in the tranquility and lovely surroundings. Additionally, private couples can rent units. At Tundrea Holiday Resort, you may discover the ideal option for your travel preferences and price range while taking in Kilpisjärvi's beauty.
Breakfast & Diner
Kilpisjärvi is a small community, thus there aren't many coffee shops or restaurants. Since you will be welcomed by a breakfast buffer in the morning, this won't be an issue when you are staying at Tundrea Holiday Resort. You have the option of starting the day with a drink or choosing your own coffee. In addition to fruit and cereal, there are also options for warmer foods like pancakes and eggs. The scene changes to a bustling restaurant in the evening, when you may choose from a variety of menu items with three or five courses, or go for a more relaxed a la carte meal with choices like fries, pasta and pizza, or reindeer steak. There are options for everyone at the restaurant.
Activities
You are also able to select from a number of activities at Tundrea Holiday Resort. You can choose to unwind or engage in an adventurous activity like riding a snowmobile. The sauna and jacuzzi they have are our favorite places to unwind. The sauna is well situated close to the lake, which is frozen in the winter. The views from the jacuzzi are breathtaking. While you are bubbling in the jacuzzi, the outside temperature can drop to -30 degrees. Would you accept a challenge? See how long your body can withstand the cold by doing the ice plunge. You should absolutely make a reservation for this. You might do this with your family or a group of friends because the sauna complex is quite spacious. It has a kitchen and a fireplace, so reserve it for a few hours and unwind together.
Final Review
All things considered, I would strongly advise staying a few nights at Tundrea Holiday Resort's glass igloos. Try the restaurant's Lapland menu, and if you enjoy the lively atmosphere, definitely try the a la carte options as well. Prepare your own food in your iglo if you want to savor the tranquility of nature. Make sure you reserve the sauna experience, take use of the ice plunge and jacuzzi, and take in the scenery. You can't overlook this accommodation. You might be fortunate enough to see the northern lights.
